Bergamo to Como, one last ride
Il Lombardia is on Saturday, October 10. The 120th edition runs 239km from Bergamo to Como, with 4,600 metres of climbing through the hills around the lakes. It is the fifth and final monument of the season, and it always feels like the season saying goodbye.
Kick-off is 10:45 CET. Expect a finish somewhere between 16:40 and 17:20 CET, depending on how hard they go.
No Pogačar this time
Here is the twist. Tadej Pogačar won this race five years in a row and is not starting this time. That alone changes everything. The last few editions were a one-man show on the final climb.
So who takes it? Remco Evenepoel is the obvious name. He was second here in 2024 and 2025, and he has been on a run: San Sebastián, Québec, the world time trial title, and the European road race a few days ago. Paul Seixas, Isaac Del Toro, Tom Pidcock, Primož Roglič and newly crowned world champion Brandon McNulty are all on the start list. Attack from far out, and someone is going to be rewarded.
The viewing problem for expats
The catch is the same one every cycling fan abroad knows. The good coverage sits behind broadcasters tied to their home country. Try to log in from overseas and you get a geo-block, not the race.
An IPTV subscription fixes that. You get the sports channels from back home plus the international ones, on the same line, wherever you live. One subscription, and no more hunting for a sketchy stream five minutes before the Sormano climb.
Plenty more sport this weekend besides the bikes. Liverpool host Manchester City on Sunday, and our Singapore GP guide covers the night race. New to all of it? Start with the basics in watching live sports abroad.
Follow the news from your country, live
Missing the evening news, the morning shows or the big match back home? With an IPTV subscription the channels from your country come straight to your screen, wherever you live.
