The Singapore Grand Prix lands on 11 October this year, and it is still the one race on the calendar that runs when Europe is winding down for the night. If you live abroad and the broadcaster you grew up with is now geo-blocked, this is the weekend that stings.
What is on
Round 17 of the 2026 season, at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Practice runs on Friday 9 October, qualifying on Saturday 10 October, the race on Sunday 11 October. The lights go out in the evening local time, so mid-afternoon in Europe and a very early start on the US west coast. Three things make it worth setting an alarm: the barriers sit close to the track, the safety car usually turns up, and the title fight is tight enough that one retirement changes the picture.
If football is more your thing
October is busy on every front. The Premier League returns from the international break on Saturday 10 October, with Arsenal hosting Leeds in the early kick-off and Manchester United against Tottenham in the evening game. The Champions League picks up again on 13 and 14 October, so the midweek after Singapore is packed as well. Cycling fans get Il Lombardia on 10 October, the last of the season’s five Monuments. Tennis is in Shanghai for the Masters, with the singles final on 12 October.
Why expats get stuck
Your old subscription usually stops working the moment your billing address moves country. The local package shows a different set of games, or none of yours. Most people end up juggling three apps and still missing kick-off. The simpler fix is a service that carries the channels from your own country, so the commentary, the pundits and the fixtures are the ones you know.
We covered the general case in watching live sports abroad, and the European picture is in our Champions League matchday 2 round-up. If it is mostly club football you miss, the Premier League weekend guide is a good place to start.
